Why Women’s Counselling

Womens Counselling Australia was established by Keona Perry in 2008, out of the need for a women’s only counselling centre, where women can discuss their problems with me and are made to feel comfortable and at ease.

At Womens Counselling Australia you are welcomed into a safe environment where you can explore any area of your life that you are feeling unhappy with, a crisis in your life, feeling overwhelmed or simply need to talk to a counsellor who is genuinely interested in you and will explore your problems, alongside you, giving you feedback on what I notice.

I have heard time and time again the unfortunate incidence of people going to counselling only to say they did not feel really ‘heard’ or ‘understood’ by the counsellor.  The aim of my counselling sessions is to ‘walk’ with you as you share your story with me.

The rapport between a client and the counsellor attributes to 30% of the counselling process; therefore if you don’t feel at ease automatically 30% of the counselling session is lost.  A further 40% of the session is what you bring to the session and by this I am referring to your ability to want to open up and explore your situation.  So overall if you don’t feel the counsellor really understands you then you are certainly not going to open up to him/her, so that’s then a huge 70% of the session lost which will equal no positive outcome.
